Colorado 2012

Last month we visited my mom in her new home in Woodland Park, Colorado.  It's about 30 minutes outside of Colorado Springs but an extra 1,000sf in elevation (8,500sf!).  We had an absolutely wonderful trip although Ed suffered some altitude sickness and had to stay home during some of our excursions.

Nick & Eve came in from San Diego and stayed at Mom's house.  We opted for staying in one of the neighbor's cabins that are rented out year-round.  Wow - that was the way to go for us!  The cabin was so comfortable & private yet only 100 yards from mom's house so we could visit each other throughout the day.

The weather was perfect during our trip - chilly enough for jackets & gloves but still ok to go play outside.  Had we been there a week later, we would have had to endure 9 degree nights / 20 degree days!

Dad & Mary came to town too, picking up my uncle Philip & Nancy along the way in Kansas.  Eve's sister lives in Colorado Springs so we were able to visit with her family a few nights.  It was a mini reunion and so fun to see so many family members in one visit.  Dad & co. stayed at the beautiful Cliff House Hotel near Pike's Peak but still visited us for our cabin parties.

I love this photo of Amelia.  She reminds me of Pocahantas!

 

The girls were such great travelers!  Both flights were on little scary airplanes and the kids either slept or played quietly.  We also decided to go stroller-free for the trip and it was a success!  I had Juliet in my awesome Ergo carrier and Amelia used her awesome walking feet and the airport was a breeze.
