Nature & The Princess

Last weekend, Ed found an egg on the ground that fell from a nest in a tree in our backyard.  He showed it to Amelia and she was surprisingly gentle with it before Ed put it back in the nest.  However, Mama Bird wouldn't leave her nest since she was guarding another egg.  He told me later that he had to get a stick to poke and shoo the bird away to put the egg back in the nest.  Mama Bird came right back to sit on her eggs and she still hasn't left yet (we were worried she would shun the fallen egg).

I love that we have some nature lessons in our backyard!  Amelia loves picking flowers (oh no, my roses!), digging for worms (and smashing them with rocks) and checking out flies that get trapped in the screen of the pool fence. There's a little bit of a tomboy in my little girl.  However...we're also in full swing of her Princess Phase.  Every day she goes into her Super Secret Princess Closet and picks out an outfit.  I pretty much let her wear whatever she wants (I'm a fun mom who wants to avoid a meltdown!), so some days she'll wear a tutu to school or a leotard & patent leather party shoes to run errands.

First Baptist Academy has "Stretch & Grow" on Mondays where the kids learn the importance of exercise.  Even princesses have to STRETCH!

There's a dead fly stuck in there...yuck!
