Ed's company has an annual Family Day and this year it was at Moody Gardens. We spent 2 days there (so impressed with the hotel that we're planning another trip before long!) and visited all the attractions. At dusk, Santa and 2 of his elves came parachuting in - in windy conditions and landing in a very small area of the grounds. I was very impressed! Later that night we got to see the REAL SANTA (according to Amelia) and walk through a mile of Christmas lights/decorations. So much fun.
Funny story: When Santa asked Amelia what she wanted for Christmas, she told him a bag of snakes. Really. Santa gave her a "Say what now?" reaction then said something along the lines of "well that's an unusual request!" The next day, she had a regret on asking for that. She told me that she meant to tell him a bag of FAKE snakes! She was really worried she'd get a live bag under the tree, but then came up with a solution. If there was a wiggling bag under the tree, we'd throw it away, otherwise she'd be good to go. Another funny note…she loves reading about snakes but will absolutely not come anywhere near one. Hoping this whole reptile phase passes soon - ick!
Our neighbor organized a Christmas caroling night and we had so much fun! There were about 7 kids and 2 songs to sing along Fawnbrook Ct (Frosty the Snowman & Jingle Bells). We ended up at about 12 houses and got the best reactions! Amelia was our oldest singer and the youngest was 3 years old, so you can imagine the quality of singing. Lots of giggling and smiles. It was almost like Halloween too, as almost every house handed out candy canes.
I took photos for our Christmas card at one of our favorite parks in Cinco Ranch. The weather was great and the girls were very cooperative.

Christmas Day was quiet, as our visitors weren't arriving until the day after. We had a quiet morning of opening presents and eating blueberry muffins then headed to see Charlotte and her family for a most delicious fajita dinner.
Whew!!! It was not a bag of live snakes!
Juliet loves Dora the Explorer. SO MUCH. She now sleeps with a big Juliet-sized Dora doll which gets a little scary when I check on her late at night.
Making gingerbread houses with Mavric. Juliet and Shepherd just ate their candy and skipped the decorating all together.
Dad & Mary drove in from MO and Nick & Eve flew in from CA. We don't see near enough of them so it was an extra special Christmas for us. We had a big dinner party one night and Eve's brother (who lives in Houston) came with his family, as well as Charlotte and her crew.
Nick had this shadowbox made for Dad, with his own actual Marine Corps sword. Nick worked with a woman who took Dad's military records and ordered all the appropriate medals. It was all done in top secret and started last summer. On our road trip to Dad's last June, we had Mary locate the sword and we brought it back to Houston. Later in the summer, Charlotte happened to take another road trip, this time to SAN DIEGO! She delivered it to Nick, who then had it all made (which took a few months). Then it was finally shipped here to surprise Dad. SURPRISE!
