Amelia Turns 6!

Happy 6th Birthday to Amelia!  

The morning of her party, she came downstairs and declared that she was ready to get her ears pierced and we needed to go NOW to get it done (before she changed her mind!).   Most of her friends now have their ears pierced but she kept saying she was scared and wanted to wait until she was 7 or 8 years old.  I told her she didn't EVER have to pierce her ears and it would always be her choice.  Now suddenly August 2nd was the day!

We went with the stereotypical place to get ears pierced...Claire's Boutique.  There was only one piercer that day so we were given the option of coming back when another piercer was there and she could get both ears done at the same time.  Amelia said she was ready NOW and we weren't going to come back later!  They gave her a big teddy bear to hug but there was no need...

There were absolutely zero tears during the piercings.  In fact, she didn't even flinch.  Like didn't even blink.  Ed calls her Tough City!  I was so surprised because she really can be a crybaby sometimes!

She planned for months and months on exactly what she wanted for her party.  She's OBSESSED with her tumbling classes, so of course we had to have the party at Westwood Gymnastics.  

Coach Hunter gave her the mic and she gave the crowd a few words.

Coach Q is one of her favorites - he's tough with the girls and makes them work really hard!  Juliet loves him too and always asks if she can start Tumbling class soon (not till Kindergarten!).

She's so light the coaches always do this balance with her.  She is begging to start Cheer, probably because she thinks she'll be the girl at the top of the pyramid (Ed's worst fear!).  

Oh yes, of course it was a My Little Pony themed party!  Over the summer it's all the girls wanted to play with, but the obsession seems to be waning.

I love getting cakes from Whole Foods but Amelia said they didn't taste as good as everyone else's birthday cakes.  This is a regular old artificially colored & flavored grocery store cake that she designed herself.  You should have seen her talking to the baker, explaining exactly which way the rainbow should go and the order of colors in that rainbow.  She chose all the colors and since the store didn't have the 'right' My Little Pony toppers, she used her own toys! 

The very best part of the birthday weakend was having my Dad & Mary visit!  We don't see them nearly as often as we'd like, so every visit we can get is super special.
